Well im glad you asked, Let me explain:
Just because I know exactly what to do when it comes to burning unwanted body fat, it doesn’t mean I don’t ever struggle with it.
I am about to inform you of a hormone that is responsible for all that fat you have around your waist and lower back, you know people call it our LOVE HANDLES.

Well I dont know about you but I dont think there is anything lovely about having a spare tyre stuck around our waist.
Lets take a closer look at why we would store fat in these areas to start with.
Now I am not overweight myself but I can defiantly relate to this damn problem, why you ask?
well my dreaded fat storage were I hold my last amounts of fat are in these particular areas, and here is why. (yes I am human)
Once you’re down to the last few lbs (kgs) and the majority of your remaining fat is being stored in your love handles and lower back then the chances are you are highly Insulin Resistant. (very common) Being insulin resistant mean that your body doesn’t manage insulin in the most efficient way.
DAMMMM this is my problem as i generally store the majority of my fat in these areas.
This is a very common problem (yes I am not alone here) particularly among people who were previously fat from eating excess high glycemic, fast digesting carbohydrates.
When I was a youngster I ate some form of cereal a couple of times a day, I would get home from school and have my fav cereal, fruit loops, (in the voice of homer simpson) “arggggghhhhhh” my mouth actually waters when i think of them (bad I know) as these colorful little critters are basically pure sugar).
So my fruit loops and other processed carbs I used to eat kept spiking my insulin, eventually leaving me insulin resistant,
So Wahla love handles anyone?

But here is the good news. After many years of training and many research papers later I have finally discovered you can combat these hate handles (the new name I call them) with specific exercise. YEHA. Yes We Can Do Something About It…
Exercises that require the most amount of muscles are the best, these are called dynamic exercises which require more than one joint action to complete, for eg, lunges, squats and many variations and combinations. (exactly what we do here at fitness boot camps) of course what would you expect.
This is because these exercises help your body produce a number of important hormones,
(wow we are fighting hormones with hormones, just like a ninja death battle)
such as Insulin like growth factor, also know as IGF-1. It has a very similar structure to insulin and actually helps to counter act its eponym. IGF-1 has a very positive effect on insulin.
The short story of this means it is good for our HATE HANDLES and US.
The key points here are by performing these types of exercises and in a specific way will drastically increase insulin sensitivity, while being extremely effective for FAT BURNING, (hey that’s just what we want)
So not only will you lose fat in general, you will rid fat from your hate handles, especially if thats where you store it.
Remember, up until now its NOT your fault that you haven’t been able to achieve your dream body.

The Most Outrageous Myth To Date That Has Been Holding You Back From Your Dream Body!
You Have to Do Long Boring Cardio To Burn The Most Fat! WRONG!!!
Slow, boring cardio workouts are not the best way to lose belly fat. If you truly want to change your body, you need to use short, burst exercise fitness resistance workouts.
But don’t take my word for it, check out the proven studies below.
Cardio vs Weights vs Interval training
Lets put it like this.
If cardio, weights and interval training were people (stay with me) and they were put on the starting line and were told, who ever makes it to the end of the road first is the fastest fat burning machine know to man, who do you think would win? And why?
Well after many studies and many debates in the health and fitness realm, the answer is clear and it goes like this.
Taking the gold medal for the fastest fat burning machine know to man is? Metabolic resistance training (resistance training)
Basically we’re using resistance training as the cornerstone of our fat loss programming. Our goal is to work every muscle group hard, frequently and with an intensity that creates a massive “metabolic disturbance” or “burn” as we like to put it, that leaves the metabolism elevated for several hours post workout.
Below is a study to support the following: Bryner RW, Ullrich IH, Sauers J, Donley D, Hornsby G, Kolar M, Yeater R. Effects of resistance vs. aerobic training.. J Am Coll Nutr. 1999 Apr;18(2):115-21.
The aerobic group performed four hours of aerobics per week. The resistance training group performed two to four sets of eight to 15 reps, 10 exercises, three times per week, V02 max increased equally in both groups. Both groups lost weight.
The resistance training group lost significantly more fat and didn’t lose any LBM, even at only 800 calories per day. (The reason the calories were so low was to take any dietary variables completely out of the equation and compare the effects of the exercise regime on LBM and metabolism.)
The resistance training group actually increased metabolism compared to the aerobic group, which decreased metabolism. It seems that resistance training is a more significant stress to the body than a starvation diet.
And that is why fitness boot camps gold coast carefully design, full body training in a superset, tri-set or circuit format (with non-competing exercises) in a rep range that generates lactic acid (and pushes the lactic acid threshold or LAT) seems to create the biggest metabolic demand.
It just makes sense: training legs, back and chest will burn more calories and elevate metabolism more than an isolated approach training one of them.
Coming in a close second taking the silver medal goes to High Intensity Anaerobic Interval Training -
The second key “ingredient” in fat loss programming is high intensity interval training (HIIT). Interval work burns more calories than steady state training and elevates metabolism significantly more than other forms of cardio.
The landmark study in interval training was from Tremblay. STUDY: Tremblay A, Simoneau JA, Bouchard C. Impact of exercise intensity on body fatness and skeletal muscle metabolism. Metabolism. 1994 Jul;43(7):814-8
This study pitted 20 weeks of aerobic endurance training against 15 weeks of interval training:
Energy cost of Aerobic endurance training = 28661 calories Energy cost of interval training = 13614 calories (less than half)
The interval training group showed a nine times greater loss in subcutaneous fat than the endurance group (long continuous exercise at a moderate pace) WOW did you read that correct. Calorie for calorie, the interval training group lost nine times more fat overall. Nine times, your probably thinking why have I spent all my time on that blasting treadmill for 30-40 minutes a day. gggggrrrrr
Even if the interval training group had lost the same fat as the endurance group, we’d get the same results in less time. That means interval training is an outright superior tool in your fat loss arsenal
And the Bronze Medal goes to Aerobic training
I don’t know about you but I certainly think continuous exercise for 30+ minutes is outright boring.
Not only that, is it the least preferred for fat burning.
Although we are still burning calories whilst doing aerobic work, we are just not working hard enough to increase our continued fat burning process post workout, unlike our gold and silver medallists above.
Don’t get me wrong if you are burning another 400 or so calories a day it will add up. And it is definitely better to do cardio than NOTHING.
If you need more proof just take a look at a bodybuilder (gold medalist) a sprinter (silver medalist) and a marathon runner (bronze medalist) and then you can make your own judgment.
